Tales of Island Life
Then and Now
Peaks Island Elementary School, grades 4/5, 2013
Peaks Island has been through many eras, and students heard tales of them first hand from their island neighbors. Gig Hasson (below) was the last "ice man" to cut ice from local ponds, and Angela, the school's janitor, laid claim to being the first girl to jump off the pier. They heard tales of the WWII gun battery, and when the island used to be a summer amusement park.
